Join our weekly CCA dedicated to supporting Baan Dada, an organization established three decades ago to provide a safe home for disadvantaged children on the Thailand-Myanmar border. Our activities focus on raising awareness and funds through creative projects, social media campaigns, and community events. Participants will learn about Baan Dada's mission, engage with guest speakers, and develop skills in event planning and advocacy. This CCA offers a meaningful way to make a positive impact on the lives of children in need while gaining valuable experience in humanitarian work.
CAS Strand: Service
This CCA aligns with the service strand of CAS by focusing on helping less fortunate communities, particularly by aiding in the construction of a new school for the children in Baan Dada to provide them with better access to education. Additionally, through advocacy efforts during our allotted service week, we aim to raise awareness and understanding of the challenges these children face, ultimately contributing to their well-being and educational opportunities.
Lasallian Principles: Concern for the poor and social justice, quality education, respect for all persons and inclusive community
Our CCA demonstrates concern for the poor and social justice by running advocacy and fundraising events to raise awareness of the challenges faced by the children at Baan Dada. By educating our community about their underprivileged lifestyle, we aim to cultivate empathy and compassion, providing both physical and emotional aid. In terms of quality education, our goal is to build a new school closer to where the children live, extending their education from grade 3 to grade 6, thereby enhancing their educational opportunities and skills. Additionally, our CCA emphasizes respect for all persons by working with underprivileged communities, fostering compassion and respect among our students towards everyone.
