Science Mentoring

Science mentoring provides a space for older students to share their knowledge and skills with young students who may be finding science challenging or are just looking for help revising content or 'filling in the blanks'. IB students are welcome to act as mentors to support one or more younger students (mentees) to help meet the needs of their mentee and build confidence over time. Positive relationships are goal setting are both important parts of Science Mentoring.

CAS Strand: Service

This Service enables Senior School students to identify and respond to an authentic need within our school community. Through this strand, members are given an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the school community through direct service. Senior school students understand that they the are not here just for their own learning but also, to help, care for and support others with genuine needs in our school community. This service is an invaluable avenue for many of our mentees to bridge the gaps in their learning given the fact that they are not having outside tuition.

Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community and Quality Education

This service builds the community spirit of the school and fosters a sense of responsibility for the older students who are sharing and imparting knowledge and skills for their juniors. This will also ensure that the quality education aspect is explored and developed and a sound program of 'paying it forward' is inculcated.
