CAS Strand: Creativity
The reading and writing aspects of the Bookclub CCA directly fosters creativity. By encouraging students to explore different writing styles, experiment with narrative techniques, and craft their own stories or poems, the CCA provides a space for imaginative expression and the development of unique artistic voices. This active engagement with language and storytelling cultivates innovative thinking and allows students to express themselves in novel ways.
Lasallian Principles: Respect, Community, Quality Education
Community: In this CCA, we will foster pre existing friendships and create new friendships through the common interest of literature and build a community where students connect through their love of reading and writing. It allows for the deepening of existing friendships and the formation of new bonds, building a supportive network of individuals who share a passion for literature. This shared passion cultivates a sense of belonging and mutual understanding, strengthening the school community as a whole.
Respect: In this CCA, we will show respect by creating a space for diverse voices and perspectives. When we engage with different authors and share our own written work, we learn to appreciate the unique experiences and ideas of others. This process encourages thoughtful listening, constructive feedback, and open-mindedness, all of which are essential components of respect.
Quality Education: This CCA, focusing on both reading and writing, directly supports quality education by fostering critical thinking and communication skills. Reading exposes students to diverse ideas and perspectives, while writing allows them to articulate their own thoughts clearly. The lessons and suggestions you provide act as guided practice, helping them refine their understanding of literature and improve their writing abilities. This structured environment encourages intellectual growth and a deeper appreciation for language, which are essential components of a well-rounded education.
