A CCA dedicated to spreading hope, positivity, and gratitude to the custodians in our school community, individuals whose tireless efforts often go unnoticed, yet without whom our learning environment would not thrive. At the heart of this initiative is the gifting of thoughtfully curated care packages, handwritten cards, and origami cranes, all created by students. These cranes are symbols of support and encouragement, and they will carry heartfelt messages of appreciation for the custodians who quietly ensure our school remains clean, safe, and welcoming every day.
In this CCA, students will have the opportunity to craft personal notes of gratitude, assemble meaningful care packages, and fold origami cranes as tokens of support. Through this, students can reflect on and recognise the often unseen contributions of others. Students not only give back to those who serve our school behind the scenes, but also develop empathy, compassion, and
community awareness.
CAS Strand: Service and Creativity.
Creativity: Project Gratitude encourages students to engage in artistic expression through handcrafted origami cranes, cards, and personalised care packages. Students can also design themed projects, developing original ideas while practicing empathy-driven creativity.
Service: This is the core of Project Gratitude’s mission. Students are directly addressing a real need, providing emotional support and gratitude to custodians. By planning, creating, and delivering symbolic gifts like origami cranes (Japanese symbol of gratitude), students can give back to the community, driven by empathy and social responsibility. The project promotes long-term commitment, collaboration, and reflection on the impact of one’s actions.
Lasallian Principles: Inclusive community and Respect for all Persons
In Project Gratitude, students will learn to show empathy and respect for all people, regardless of age, background, or condition. Through writing personalised notes, folding cranes with care, and working together to serve custodians, students can develop respect for the dignity and worth of every individual. It cultivates a culture of inclusion, kindness, and mutual understanding.
Additionally, it also supports the Lasallian value of Inclusive Community by creating a space where students of different backgrounds can come together with a shared purpose, to bring hope, care, gratitude and encouragement to others.
