SAPA (Social and Political Advocacy)

SAPA (Social and Political Advocacy)

Participants in this CCA will work collaboratively to draw attention to social and political activism by composing articles and hosting a website. Participants will research, discuss and compose content about issues related to social justice, human rights, environmentalism, and other such causes.

The intention is to inform, educate, and inspire readers to take action and create positive change in the world.

CAS Strand: Creativity and Service

Creating articles for the publication requires creativity in order to craft a compelling message that resonates with readers. Students can demonstrate their creative skills by writing articles, editing others’ work, creating social media posts or improving the website.

Writing articles is an important form of indirect service, promoting advocacy and encouraging responses by readers to make a difference.

Lasallian Principles: Respect for All Persons and Inclusive Community

By participating in SAPA, participants will demonstrate respect for all persons and promote an inclusive global community by promoting inclusivity, diversity, and equality. The publication will feature articles and opinion pieces that address issues related to discrimination and prejudice based on factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and ability. By providing a platform for marginalised voices and perspectives, participants will challenge and dismantle systems of oppression, promote empathy and understanding by featuring stories of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences and highlight the humanity of all individuals by promoting respect, dignity and human rights.
