Leading Young Women

Leading Young Women

An advocacy leadership group that meets weekly to discuss topics and issues facing young women today. Each year we will plan and host a Pecha Kucha style event that offers young women in our community a platform to share their stories and use their voice to lift up and empower other women. All young women, are welcome in this group.

CAS Strand: Service

Through this strand, members are given an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the school community through direct service, indirect service and advocating for gender equality and discussing issues of gender inequity that they experience. Members are engaged in discussions that embrace diverse perspectives and help to develop inter-cultural understanding of the way in which gender can be a limiting factor and work to elevate the voice of women and girls in our community. The group's co-collaborated mission is to "Empowering women to be fearless leaders of change".

Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community

This group contributes to our Lasallian Principles of an Inclusive Community in that it supports our school vision of being an inclusive community where diversity is respected. This group offers a 'place' for girls and young women in our community who are passionate about gender issues and that tackling gender inequality can strengthen our 'Lasallian Family' as a whole.

Student Testimonial: Leading Young Women is a CCA that invites students that feel greatly about woman's rights, and us a group share why we think that is important and mark special people from inside and outside our school, and why their story shows how strong woman are.
