Hope Haven is dedicated to assisting families in Singapore who are facing financial hardships due to ailing or terminally ill loved ones. This issue holds significant importance in Singapore, as many families face the conflicting challenge of supporting a seriously ill loved one while also trying to cope with the financial strain of rising healthcare costs. We provide both advocacy and financial aid to ensure that the families receive the critical assistance and care that they deserve. Our efforts include mobilizing resources, advocating for their needs and raising funds for the families affected to stay financially afloat. Unique fundraising events held at school will help raise both awareness and money for the families struggling with this hardship. The SJII community will be educated about this prevalent issue here in Singapore and will be able to support these families exponentially. In partnership with Caritas Singapore, a global confederation of over 160 humanitarian organisations—we are able to strengthen our impact. Through this collaboration, Hope Haven will be able to directly meet the needs of the families affected by this pressing issue. Students will take an active role in planning and executing fundraising events, engaging with the school community to raise awareness, managing donation campaigns, and collaborating with Caritas Singapore to ensure adequate funds reach families in need.
CAS Strand: Service
Hope Haven qualifies as a service CCA because it provides direct financial aid and advocacy to Singaporean families struggling with healthcare costs, in partnership with Caritas Singapore. Students actively drive this mission by organizing fundraising events and awareness campaigns to mobilize resources for those facing terminal or chronic illness.
Lasallian Principles: Concern for the Poor, Respect for All Persons and Inclusive community
Hope Haven supports the Lasallian core value of Concern for the poor and social justice by tackling the problems caused by the wealth disparity in our society and helping those most susceptible to circumstances where they are unable to cope by themselves. Hope Haven also supports the Lasallian core value of Inclusive Community by offering financial and emotional support for these families through the challenges that they are facing. We will uphold the dignity of families who may feel neglected or excluded due to their financial situation to show how any family, regardless of their circumstances, deserve the care, empathy and respect that they deserve. No family has to suffer in silence. Hope Haven embodies the Lasallian value of Respect for All Persons by recognising the dignity of families facing hardship due to illness. The CCA actively addresses their needs through financial aid and advocacy, showing care for their well-being. By raising awareness and partnering with Caritas Singapore, Hope Haven puts this value into action within the Singaporean community.
