This CCA will act as a space where the Red Cross Youth service is able to plan and organise future events, for example, fundraising or guest speakers. Additionally, we will be working to enable our community to take part in volunteering or take interest in various Red Cross initiatives like donating blood, through a website. Lastly, we’ll be researching and delving into not only humanitarian issues, but also recent news that relate to our humanitarian interests. Thus, through social media, posters and school events we hope to educate our community on recent and relevant humanitarian crises.
CAS Strand: Service
The Red Cross Youth Club is linked to service as it intends to influence positive change in students by educating and raising awareness about various humanitarian concerns. Additionally, the club will seek to raise funds for the Red Cross which should have a positive impact on our community. This club will inspire students to advocate for global issues, nurturing leaders for humanity.
Lasallian Principles: Concern for the poor and social justice
Concern for the poor and social justice - our group will be dedicated to addressing and advocating for many humanitarian issues. Red Cross Youth Group plans on setting up fundraisers alongside different workshops regarding some of the Red Cross's societal issues. Many of these issues relate to the lack of equality in the community and hence demonstrate our concern for the poor and social justice. Inclusive community - spreading advocacy and support. We as a CCA want to unite the SJII community into supporting a long-term cause. We believe that this CCA can make a long-term impact on our school community which will carry on far beyond when we leave.
