"This is Eden" is a CCA dedicated to raising awareness and support for Eden, a Christian NGO that empowers survivors of human trafficking in Myanmar. Eden provides crucial resources such as outreach programs, drop-in centers, emergency shelters, trauma counseling, vocational training, economic empowerment, and community education to help these women rebuild their lives.
In our CCA sessions, we will actively contribute by creating awareness items like cards, gift bags, and jewelry made by rescued women in Eden centers. Through media, advocacy, and creativity, our members will collaborate in teams to design, organize, and promote fundraising activities. By working directly with Eden volunteers, we aim to bring much-needed attention to this pressing issue and provide meaningful support to the courageous women on their journey to recovery.
CAS Strand: Creativity and Service
Creativity: Students will engage in crafting meaningful items and developing awareness campaigns, using artistic expression to support and represent Eden’s mission.
Service: Through advocacy and educational outreach, students will raise awareness on human trafficking, fostering a well-informed, empathetic school community aligned with Eden’s cause.
Lasallian Principles: Concern for the Poor and Social Injustice and Faith in the Prescence of God
This CCA embodies the Lasallian Value of "Concern for the Poor and Social Injustice," addressing the severe exploitation many women face in Myanmar and similar regions, an issue often overlooked in classrooms. Rooted in the Christian teachings of Eden, the NGO's work also aligns with "Faith in the Presence of God," as they provide non-discriminatory support across Asia, fostering inclusivity and compassion.
