Badminton Competitive Training

Boys and Girls Competitive Training and ACAMIS Squad

In this activity, students will engage in weekly training sessions to develop their badminton skills. Each session will include general drills to develop skills and include singles and double games. The goal is for students to become more confident and competent players who are able to use a variety of techniques and strategies to maneuver the shuttlecocks around the court. As the shuttlecock flight is stubbornly affected by wind, badminton training and competitive games are always played indoors.

Students who take part in this CCA may be asked to represent the school in ACSIS competitions.

CAS Strand: Activity

Badminton is a physically demanding sport with Shuttlecocks having a much higher top speed, when compared to other racket sports. Played indoors with no air is important for gameplay but can also be challenging causing perspiration and fatigue. Through this CCA, students will improve their physical endurance and aerobic fitness as well as their speed and agility through specific training drills.

Lasallian Principles: Quality Education

Participants in this CCA will develop fundamental skills for Badminton like: stance, footwork, serving, and a range of shot types (lob, smash, drop shot etc). These skills are transferrable to other racket sports and will give students confidence to engage with and enjoy a range of physical pursuits.
