Mass Ministry

Mass Ministry

The Mass Ministry offers students a unique opportunity to actively engage in various sub-ministries, each serving a distinct role in enhancing the spiritual experience of our community during Mass:

Altar Servers: These dedicated individuals assist the priest during the Eucharist and other liturgical ceremonies, ensuring the smooth preparation of the altar for Mass. We welcome both male and female students to participate in this ministry, with a maximum of 8 altar servers.

Lectors: Lectors play a vital role by proclaiming the word of God during Mass, enriching the spiritual journey of the congregation.

Hospitality: This sub-ministry embodies the essence of Christ's love through expressions of gratitude, excitement, and enthusiasm as they warmly welcome the community at Mass.

Media Team: This crucial sub-ministry helps create, update, and manage slides for Mass, ensuring a seamless and impactful visual experience during the service.

To ensure students are well-prepared for their roles, comprehensive training sessions and meetings will be scheduled outside the Mass schedule, with timings arranged to accommodate everyone's availability.

CAS Strand: Service

The Mass Ministry aligns with the CAS Strand of "Service" by providing students with opportunities to actively serve in various sub-ministries during Mass. Through their roles as altar servers, lectors, hospitality managers, and members of the media team, students engage in meaningful service to enhance the spiritual experience of our community during Mass. This active involvement in service activities allows students to contribute to the well-being of their school community while deepening their faith and fostering a sense of responsibility. It is a fulfilling way for students to live out the CAS principles of service, promoting spiritual growth and contributing positively to the school community's worship experience.

Lasallian Principles: Faith in the Presence of God and Quality Education

The Catholic Mass is integral to the Catholic faith, which the founder St John Baptist de La Salle professes and was inspired to start a Lasallian education movement for "the last, the lost and the least".  It is with Faith in the Presence of God that SJII is built upon. The Mass ministry works toward encouraging the Catholic faith community of SJII to participate fully in the life of the Church (the community of God). The Mass provides a space for quality education for young Catholics and others who are interested and curious about the faith to participate and learn about the various functions of Mass.
