Hagar in SJI international aims to help raise funds to support those affected by human trafficking and modern day slavery. Through the past year, we have raised over $1000 through bake sales and talent shows. Participants in this group help plan events and create marketing material to promote our events and raise awareness and funds for the organisation.
CAS Strand: Service and Creativity
It contributes to the CAS strand of service as we aim to raise funds and awareness on the topic at hand. Modern slavery and human trafficking is a significant issue in our society although many do not know about it. Students will also engage in creating promotional posters, campaigns and fundraising events.
Lasallian Principles: Concern for the Poor and Social Justice and Respect for all Persons
In this CCA, we are demonstrating compassion and care for those facing this predicament by learning more about who Hagar supports and their personal stories, while also advocating for respect for all persons as we advocate and raise awareness on the topic of human trafficking where the rights of these groups are being abused.
