MD Junior

MD Junior

MDJunior is a student-run nonprofit that mobilises youth to bridge the Health Gap. Using a unique service-learning methodology for empowering youth in health, MDJunior is able to address pressing community health problems.

Participants in this CCA will learn about and be exposed to professionals in the medical field, driven by the organisations mission to serve the community.

CAS Strand: Service

As a service-based CCA, the main objective is to expose students to the medical world and profession so that they will have a greater understanding of how they can contribute to the health of our local and global community. This may be achieved through direct service such as volunteering at local hospitals or via indirect service and advocacy such as raising awareness in our SJII community of challenging medical and health issues.

Lasallian Principles:

This service CCA supports the Lasallian value of “quality education” as it strives to educate students about the inner workings of the medical world, the required skills to work in the professional that extend beyond academic prowess.

The CCA is also aligned with “concern for the poor and social justice” as we aim to bridge the gap for healthcare between people around the world via links to external organisations and professionals.

Finally, this CCA will create an “inclusive community”, driven by the belief that people’s socioeconomic status should not dictate their access to medical resources.
