This CCA is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for a residential and daycare center. Students will organize and participate in various activities such as bake sales, performances, and sports tournaments to support this cause. Throughout the CCA, we will plan and coordinate the logistics for each fundraising event. At the end of the term, after successfully collecting all donations, we will visit the care home to engage with the residents. During our visit, we will play interactive games with the elderly and present the collected donations, fostering connection and community spirit.
CAS Strand: Service
Singapore has an ageing community, projected to become “super-aged”, with projections showing that the nation is set for nearly 1 in 4 Singaporeans to be 65 years old and above in coming years. Hence, there is a great need for elderly care in our community and it is our duty to ensure our elders are appropriately cared for. With the elderly population in Singapore nearly doubling this past decade, this CCA aims to raise awareness and funding for a local old age home. This will enable the home to support more of the elderly with greater quality of care while our end of term visits will hopefully lighten up their stay.
Lasallian Principles: Respect for All Persons, Concern for the Poor and Social Justice, Inclusive Community
This CCA is dedicated to promoting respect, inclusivity, and social justice by supporting elderly individuals in residential and daycare centers. Through activities like fundraising events and care home visits, students will raise awareness of the importance of valuing all people equally, regardless of age or ability. By interacting with and caring for the elderly, we affirm their dignity and highlight their significance in our community. This initiative addresses social isolation, fosters an inclusive environment, and seeks to bridge societal inequalities by easing financial burdens and advocating for compassionate treatment of our elders.
