CAS Strand: Service

Students will work along side experienced and qualified sporting coaches to share their knowledge and passion of a range of sports with the elementary school. By engaging with and organising drills, supporting players to master skills and facilitating simulated and competitive games, high school students will provide an important service to younger up and coming sportsmen and sportswomen.

Lasallian Principles: Respect for All Persons, Inclusive Community and Quality Education

In supporting the coaching of younger players, students will model and explicitly teach about respect: respect for themselves, teammates and the opposition. ‘Good sportsmanship’ will underpin this CCA by fostering good habits and positive life skills.

This CCA will also highlight the importance of an inclusive community. In building relationships and fostering positive relationships between the Elementary and High School, it is made plain that we are all members of SJII.

Engagement in this CCA also supports the Lasallian principle of a quality education. Playing sport and sharing knowledge about sport brings balance to students lives and is fundamental to SJII’s holistic approach to education. This CCA will encourage students to discover and nurture their strengths and interests, cultivate values throughout the experience, and hopefully allow them realise their potential outside of the classroom.
