Stitches

Stitches

In this activity, students learn the basics skills of using the sewing machine and make a range of functional items including pouches, scrunchies, stuffed toys & tote bags. Across the sessions, students will build upon their skills and progress to creating items which require more skills. Students will get to bring home their finished items. For students who already have the basic skills of using the sewing machine, they can progress to creating upcycled products.

CAS Strand: Creativity and Service

Students in this CCA are able to exercise their independence and creativity by learning new skills to create a range of functional and aesthetically pleasing items. Students are also able to use their new skills to create items to be sold during school sell as fund raisers to help support service providers.

Lasallian Principles: Quality Education

Students will be learning life skills which extend beyond the classroom; students will be picking up upcycling skills in repurposing old clothes and turning them into other usable items. This life skill teaches students to repair their torn items so that there is less waste. It also allows students to be creative and make something usable instead of making a new purchase.

Student Testimonial: Stitches is a great CCA if you have never sewn before but want to learn how to .
