Lasallian Mentoring Program

Lasallian Mentoring Program

The Lasallian Mentoring Program is aimed at assisting and tutoring primary and secondary kids who have no means of paying for tuition-based programs. The hope is to help them understand their lesson thoroughly and instil in them skills needed to respond to the different activities in the classroom.

CAS Strand: Service and Creativity

This CCA will focus on the value of service as we give service through education and accompaniment to those young people who are in need. Being with the students and teaching, tutoring, and mentoring them, is our way of giving service to the community, giving back and sharing what we have to make our community a better, fun and more knowledgeable place.

Students who will volunteer with this CCA will also have their creativity tested. As we will be working on different fronts, particularly online and face-to-face engagements, as we work for the benefit of Lasallian primary schools across Singapore and primary and secondary kids of the nearby Toa Payoh area. This CCA will allow our students to unleash their passion and share it as they tutor and have fun with the mentee-participants. Aside from their passion, they can also share their knowledge with them during the tutor-tutee time, which makes up most of the time of LM, wherein they ask the mentees what they need help in their academic requirements, and hopefully, the mentors from our school can help them in doing their school tasks.

Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community, Quality Education, Respect for All Persons, Concern for the Poor and Social Justice and Faith in the Presence of God.

Faith in the Presence of God is enshrined in our activity as we believe that by educating others, we are able to help in making people better and knowledgeable. We put our faith in God into action by committing our volunteers to their weekend service and encountering God through the people they meet in the mentoring program.

Concern for the Poor and Social Justice is also active in our CCA as we want to support those who are challenged academically and help them to improve their school performance through the academic mentoring we will provide.

Education should not be limited to the classroom setting wherein our students are learners. Quality education is shown in our CCA when our students apply what they love to do, their passions, and their knowledge to the mentoring program, sharing what they have with others in the Lasallian community and the larger community of Singapore.

inclusive Community and Respect for All Persons are supported in our CCA as we will welcome all students regardless of their race, religion, or academic status. At the same time, our mentees are a community of different races, religions, and academic statuses. We strive to live harmoniously and respect and help each other succeed.

Through this CCA, students will be able to discover their talents and skills, while sharing them in the process. Our community is so blessed and this is one way for our community to give back and share what they have to those who are in need.
