Geography Mentoring

Geography Mentoring

The purpose of Geography mentoring is to allow our older students to share their knowledge and skills with young students who may be finding the subject difficult, or who may lack confidence in Geography. Each mentor is expected to work alongside their mentee (and their teacher), to help meet the needs of their mentee and build confidence over time.

CAS Strand: Service

This project comes under Service as it is works to meet the identified needs within our SJII community; specifically within Geography. Students need to consult with their mentee and teacher, in order to identify this need, and the program they construct for their mentee is tailored to meet specific needs (understanding or skills or both). At its ideal, mentoring has been seen to have a positive impact on the confidence of younger students, with higher participation and engagement in lessons and projects.

Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community and Quality education

The project allows older students to engage directly with younger students, building community and improving academic outcomes.
