Photography

This CCA is for anyone with an interest in photography. Don't worry about having a fancy camera, you can use your phone or your SLR or a point and shoot. We will be learning about composition, lighting, black and white and colour and editing. Every week we will have a different theme ranging from portrait to food to nature to inspire you to take your best photos. You will share photos and get feedback in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere and you will also create your own digital sharing platform to share your photos. At the end of the term your best photos will be exhibited. Additionally the best 6 photos each week will be shared on the SJII Photography Instagram.

CAS Strand: Creativity

Creativity in CAS provides students with the opportunity to explore their own sense of original thinking and expression. Photography is a perfect way to be creative in a student's own way, discovering their 'eye' and their own unique way of seeing the world. As a form of expression, photography is limitless. It will involve the learning of technical elements but is ultimately a means of creating something out of a student's intepretation of their world.

Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community and Respect for All Persons

The Lasallian school is a united community where diversity is respected, where no one is left out, and where everyone finds a place. Individuals within the school community recognize and accept another's strengths and limitations. This core principle is expressed through the Lasallian ideal: "The Lasallian Family.

This is an inclusive CCA where everyone's individual talents are celebrated and encouraged. Students will work together, encourage one another, and collaborate to create an excellent instagram to showcase photography to the wider school community. Additionally, within photography we will celebrate diversity within both the school and Singapore.

Student Testimonial:

Photography is a way to show students creativity through a new lens. You're able to get feedback form teachers, and peers. Allowing yourself to look at everything at a new angle. You don't need a fancy new camera, you are able to use your phone and take mind blowing photos. I would suggest this to students as it is really fun, and you are able to bond with your classmates and teachers.
