The Senior Council plays a pivotal role in supporting the student body in the Senior School (Grades 11&12) at SJI International. The team meets on a weekly basis with the VP Senior School and HOG to discuss matters related to student life in the IB, projects and initiatives to enhance student wellbeing and welfare, and to update on proposals and key events. Council members are voted into their roles by their peers through a thorough student voting process. Positions in the council are established once the newly elected council completes their weekend retreat (in Term One each year). The team has multiple subsections and leadership posts, ranging from President to Student Welfare secretary, and Special Events secretary to Faith and Internationalism lead.
The Senior Council are responsible for taking a lead on hugely significant community events such as: The Welcome to the Senior School Day (for all new G11 students), Hair for Hope (Cancer appeal), the Blood Donation Drive (Red Cross) and the G12 Graduation jacket design project which takes place on an annual basis.
The Senior Council take a key role in sharing feedback, student concerns and ideas/projects linked to improving student experience (with the Senior Leadership team) and often are invited into our meetings to share feedback and proposal work with this team.
