The Doodling Ducklings

The Doodling Ducklings

This CCA is student led and provides participants with space to engage in art therapy while concurrently organising a fundraising event to support the Red Pencil organisation.

Participants will be split into four teams and work collaboratively to support eachother, the organisation and the fundraising project- the core team, the illustrator team, the marketing team, and the communication team.

Red Pencil conducts art therapy sessions for people who have mental health difficulties, to overcome their problems in a creative and stress-relieving method, especially children who have had traumatic experiences. Their motto is that everyone can use the creative process of arts to take care of one’s mental, physical and emotional wellbeing towards healing, resilience and self-empowerment.

CAS Strand: Service and Creativity

This CCA is aligned with Creativity as students participate in creative art therapy and exercise creative processes when supporting the Red Pencil organisation.

This CCA is also aligned with service, as participants are committed to supporting Red Pencil (a service organisation) by spreading awareness of and communicating strategies to support mental health/wellbeing.

Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community

This CCA supports the Lasallian value of an inclusive community. The intention of the CCA is not only to draw and relieve the stress and improve the well-being of participants but also to spread knowledge of and highlight the importance of mental health. Through this CCA, our intention is to support connections with people in our community who might be struggling with their mental health.

This service project is also aligned with the Lasallian Value of respect. By participating in this CCA, students will have a greater understanding of and demonstrate respect for others.

This CCA is also aligned with a quality education. By collaborating with the school community and the Red Pencil organisation, participants will be able to develop important lifelong skills from each other and the organisation.
