Malay Club

The Malay Club is established to enable members to learn the Malay language and to experience the Malay culture in a fun and enjoyable way! The activities are designed to develop cultural awareness and appreciate similarities and differences between the culture of Malay and their own. Living in The Malay Archipelago, it is useful to learn some Useful Malay Phrases…Malay (or Bahasa Melayu) is the official language of Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. It is also pretty similar to Indonesian.

CAS Strand: Creativity

Exploring a new language and discovering the culture of others apart from theirs will enrich their mindset and their view towards others. Their creativity will be enhanced when they need to use new vocabulary learnt and present their thoughts in various forms such as Google Slides , posters, WordArt and Cartoon Strips.

Lasallian Principles:

Students not only learn another language to supplement the education they receive at school, but also about the cultures of Malay speakers in this part of the world. This engenders an appreciation and respect for other people and their ways of life that might be different to their own.
