Career Exploration CLub

Career Exploration Club

The club is focused on providing exposure to different career paths and equipping students with life skills that are relevant to a broad range of careers.

CAS Strand: Creativity

The CCA aligns with Creativity by allowing students to explore their own passions and interests, and deepen their skill level on that certain topic. It will grant students skills to overcome new challenges and achieve new objectives. Students will be encouraged to form new ideas for the CCA, and work together to allow those ideas to come to fruition. For example, we could plan a fundraising event and display the CAS strand of Creativity by finding ways to make the event unique. This will help students implement their own thinking and expression into the assignments they complete.

The CCA also aligns with Service by contributing to the school community. This is because the CCA is not only created for the members who join, but also to grant all the students an insight into potential career paths. By doing this, all the students in SJIIHS are able to absorb knowledge, and it will benefit everyone who participates. For example, when the CCA arranges for a spokesperson to give a speech in school, it will be open to anyone to join and listen in. Though some activities are limited to the members of the club, many events will be open to all students, allowing everyone to participate and benefit from the CCA.

Lasallian Principles: Quality Education, Inclusive Community and Respect for All Persons

Quality Education: The club will educate students on potential future career paths, and allow them to choose a broad field of expertise they find interest in. This is quality education as it provides them with resources and knowledge that will benefit them directly in the future, as well as preparing them to be more independent and learn general life skills (eg. public speaking, critical thinking, etc.)

Inclusive Community: The club will allow students to explore the range of career pathways they can pick from, and realise that there are other, potentially more interesting lines of work apart from the typical lawyer, doctor, engineer, etc. This achieves the Lasallian Value of having an inclusive community as it opens students to different people, as all ideas are heard and we will work together to allow ideas to come to fruition, as well as build an idea of the area of expertise they want to focus on.

Respect for All Persons: The club will expose students to various career options and allow students to be appreciative of how different jobs come together to contribute to our overall community
