Self Defense

Self Defense

The self-defense CCA is an adaptation of techniques and exercises/drills designed for a focus on practical self defense.

There is a focus on; movement and distance drills, rolling and break falls, striking, blocking, basic locks and throws, some flexibility and conditioning and situational awareness.

If students are interested in attending adult classes they can request to join on Saturday mornings. The training is supervised by licensed teachers using safe training weapons and in a safe environment.

CAS Strand: Activity

Students in this CCA will meet the CAS strand of Activity due to the active nature of our sessions. Students will work through a range of drills and techniques that are scaffolded over the duration of the CCA to build up their flexibility, movement, balance, and spatial awareness.

Lasallian Principles: Quality Education

Through this CCA students can develop their self confidence and work on improving their focus, motivation, fitness, coordination, and flexibility of the mind and body. These are all transferrable skills to help students in their studies, personal growth and working together.

Student Testimonial: It teaches you the basic blocks and defence counter strikes with hands and weapons that can be applied in real-life situations of self-defence. From this CCA, I gained knowledge of how to defend myself in basic situations and I have learnt to endure more pain. This is recommended if you enjoy learning martial arts and want to be more exposed to it.
