Softball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of 10 players. It is a direct descendant of baseball although there are some key differences: softballs are larger than baseballs, and the pitches are thrown underhand rather than overhand. Softball is played on a smaller diamond than in baseball.
CAS Strand:
This CCA is aligned with the Activity CAS strand as students need to be physically active to participate. Students engage in drills and games in order to develop both their skills and a competitive edge.
Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community
The game is inclusive with mixed-gender teams and a wide range of abilities. All students and the instructor will support and encourage each other, regardless of previous experience or familiarity with the game or fitness level and ability. This CCA will also give students exposure to an enjoyable game played around the world that they might pursue after they have left SJI International.
