490 Record Label

This CCA is run like an independent record label. We use the time to find artists, produce music, design branding, multimedia and marketing products and host performances.

Students will get the opportunity to experience the challenges presented by the 4 departments (Artists & Music, Marketing, Legal and Design & Multimedia), choosing to focus their time on one area or try different aspects of the company.

Being part of this CCA does not mean you will be selected as an artist, but will give you an opportunity to work with artists and make music. If you are interested in music, publishing, business, marketing, graphic design or the music industry in general, this CCA is for you.

CAS Strand: Creativity

The "product" of this CCA is to record, produce and release music singles and music videos, all of which are creative endeavors. Other by-products include posters, album art, marketing campaigns, logos and more, also all related to creativity.

Should this CCA take off, I would also be interested in expanding it to service, in order to release themed albums to draw attention to the schools service initiatives.

Lasallian Principles: Inclusive Community and Quality Education

This CCA is inclusive as it provides an opportunity for both musical and non musically trained students to engage in the processes of music. It also offers auditions to the whole school community and aims to release music regardless of genre, offering outlets for music making from all cultures.

It provides quality education as it is run in the style of a real-world business, with an aim of providing real-world releases of music. This gives students the opportunity to use their learning to prepare them better for life, and to examine the music industry from a safe space through the lens of SJII.
