As part of its Catholic identity, SJI International prides itself as a school that supports and nurtures the faith lives of not just Catholic staff and students, but the entire school community. LaCaYo, which is Spanish for “foot soldier”, is the abbreviated form for Lasallian Catholic Youth.
LaCaYo plans and organises the Grade 7 Catholic Enrichment. Students serving in this council act as role models for younger students who wish to take their faith and spirituality seriously. LaCaYo also plans and proposes initiatives within school that seek to deepen the spiritual life of every individual. This include the morning tannoy reflections, inter-religious prayer services, as well as the year end Christmas celebrations.
LaCaYo members work closely with the Faith Formation Team in SJI High School and on the occasion act as student ambassadors when collaborating with other Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Singapore.
