Finance Chronicles is a student-led economics and finance blog aimed at empowering students with practical knowledge regarding economics and finance related news, and how they are able to apply what they learn in class to the real world context. With activities ranging from discussions on ongoing current issues from the lens of economics and finance to writing op-ed pieces on issues close to the member’s interest. Beyond applying what they learn in class to the real world context as well as having intellectual discussions, we seek to educate, upskill and inspire our peers to become financially literate and socially responsible individuals through the engagement. Given the ongoing crisis and conflicts around the world, we hope to keep our members and by extension our community more informed through the activities such that they are able to contribute meaningfully to the well being of others through the knowledge and experience gained in Finance Chronicles.
CAS Strand: Creativity
By designing original infographics, articles, and digital resources, students must think like artists, journalists, and educators all at once. True creativity shines when they connect hidden dots—merging rigid financial models with real-world ethical dilemmas and sustainability crises. It isn’t just about learning economics; it’s about inventing entirely new, engaging ways to make the world care about it.
Lasallian Principles: Quality Education and Inclusive Community
Quality education
Through our focus on economics and financial literacy and education, the CCA promotes Quality Education by helping students develop essential life skills in economics, investing, and business. Our workshops, student discussions and op-ed pieces aim to make economics and finance related issues more accessible to everyone, regardless of background or prior knowledge, fostering an Inclusive Community where all students can learn and grow together simply based on one thing - their passion to learn, be inquisitive and grow to be a global citizen.
Inclusive community
By raising awareness about sustainable development goals and ethical decision-making, we reflect on the world of economics and finance, aiming to understand how it can be more inclusive amidst conflicts and crises. By combining education, inclusion, and social awareness, Finance Chronicles embodies the Lasallian mission of forming students who use knowledge for the good of others, developing them as more responsible members of the community.
